Here's what's happening in the Shelton area to celebrate the season.

It’s that time of year again-- Time to break out your cutest kid’s and pet costumes, creepiest lawn decorations and funniest/sexiest costumes.

Whether you’re staying in or hitting every costume contest in the area, hoping to win the big prize, here’s your need-to-know info. Children’s activities are listed first and adult parties are listed underneath.

  • Redding: 2nd Annual Halloween Hayride at Warrup’s Farm, Redding: Friday, Oct. 24, Hayride, maze, farm animals, pick your own pumpkin, $9 per child over the age of 2, 11 John Read Road, Redding, 3:30-5:30 p.m. Click here to register.
  • Redding: Trunk or Treat Street, Saturday, Oct. 25, 3 - 5 pm., parking lot of Redding Community Center.
  • Redding Trick or Treat Street, $10 per child, entrance is from 6-7 p.m. sharp from RES kindergarten wing entrance, park at Community Center parking lot. Families with a pre-schooler may enter early between 5:30- 5:55 p.m.

  • Wilton: Pumpkin Parade and Trick-or-Treating, Saturday, Oct. 25, noon-2, Wilton Center. Parade begins at noon; pets welcome.
  • Wilton: Halloween Hustle 5K, 9 a.m., Town Green Gazebo, Old Ridgefield Road. SUnday, Oct. 26, check-in at 9, race stars at 10. Come in costume. $30/adults, $10/children includes T-shirt. Scarecrow Scamper Kids Run, Merwin Meadows Pavilion begins directly after Halloween Hustle. Entry fee: $10, includes pumpkin medal.
