Hundreds Turn Out Against Huntington Center Housing Project
Residents packed a Planning and Zoning meeting to voice displeasure about putting 20 houses on a 6.1 acre parcel.

SHELTON, CT — Around 500 residents came out to a Planning and Zoning meeting to voice disapproval over a housing proposal in Huntington that would put 20 houses on about a 6.1 acre parcel of land.
The proposal calls for the homes to be built behind Huntington Congregational Church, according to the Connecticut Post.
Each colonial would have about 2,000 square feet of space and 17 of the homes would have two car garages.

Residents Harry and Eva Foothorap who live near the entrance to the proposed development were instrumental in getting residents to the meeting.
Current zoning in the area permits one house per acre of land, according to the Shelton Herald.

Developer attorney Dominick Thomas said that the Planning and Zoning commission has approved similar cluster housing plans and that it makes more sense to have moderate density housing in the proposed area.
