Man Arrested in Connection with Armed Robbery at Shelton Liquor Store

A Bridgeport man was arrested in connection with an armed robbery at Cleto’s Liquor Store in December 2014.

According to police, Jeremy Rodriguez, 24 was arrested on June 18 on an active arrest warrant. Rodriguez was charged with first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, third-degree larceny, third-degree conspiracy to commit third-degree larceny and carrying a dangerous weapon.

The owner of the store reported to Shelton Police that two men entered the store, one with a large knife and the another with a handgun, demanding cash and liquor, police said.

According to police, a subsequent investigation by Shelton detectives led to an arrest warrant for Rodriguez.

Rodriguez fled to Florida where eventually he had contact with Florida Law Enforcement, police said. Rodriguez was then held at the Pinellas County Corrections facility until Shelton Detectives traveled to Florida and transported him back to Connecticut.

Three others were previously arrested for their involvement in the case.

Police except no other arrests to be made in the case. Rodriguez was given a $75,000 bond and was arraigned on June 19. 

The charges are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
