Moratorium Reportedly Considered On Marijuana Sales In Shelton

The Planning and Zoning Commission is looking at a temporary ban on businesses setting up shop in the city to sell recreational pot.

SHELTON, CT — The Planning and Zoning Commission is considering a moratorium on store sales of recreational marijuana in Shelton, the Shelton Herald reported.

Adults are allowed to legally possess small amounts of pot in Connecticut, after the state made it legal last year. But commercial sales of marijuana are not expected to begin until a few months from now.

The P&Z is drafting a moratorium on businesses setting up stores to sell weed until the city comes up with a plan and regulations, a move that other communities have adopted.
