Passenger Extricated From Damaged Car After Crash In Shelton: FD

Fire officials said three people were taken to a local trauma facility for evaluation after the crash and the car was heavily damaged.

SHELTON, CT — Firefighters freed a passenger from a damaged car after a crash late Saturday morning in Shelton, according to fire officials.

According to a news release, crews were called to Route 8 southbound around 11:30 a.m. after receiving a report of a crash between exits 12 and 13.

Fire officials soon learned one passenger was still trapped in the vehicle and a pediatric was involved.

When firefighters arrived in the area, they found a large tree down and the car was heavily damaged. Crews were then directed to use hydraulic spreaders to gain access to an adult in the front passenger seat, fire officials said.

After the door was quickly opened, emergency medical service officers evaluated the passengers. Three people were then taken to a local trauma facility for evaluation, according to fire officials.
