Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Car On Route 8 In Shelton: State Police

SHELTON, CT — A Bridgeport woman was struck and killed by a car early Wednesday morning on Route 8 in Shelton, according to state police.

State police identified the pedestrian as Joan Marie Forgas, 32, of Bridgeport.

According to an accident summary provided by state police, Forgas parked her vehicle between the right lane and shoulder of Route 8 north, near the exit 13 ramp, just after midnight.

For unknown reasons, Forgas exited her vehicle and was in the right lane of travel when she and her car were hit by another vehicle, state police said.

Forgas was thrown as a result of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to state police.

The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured, however both cars were towed from the area due to disabling damage, state police said.
