Retired Shelton Teacher Arrested For Sex Assault: PD

The student was sexually assaulted on or around school grounds while being mentored, police said.

SHELTON, CT — A retired Shelton teacher was charged with sexual assault after a victim came forward and said he was assaulted around 2005 to 2007, according to police.

The victim was enrolled in the Shelton Intermediate School mentoring program where David Munson, 76, of Shelton was a mentor. Munson retired in 1999 after 34 years of teaching.

Munson was a youth mentor during the incident time from 2005 to 2007 and was also on the Shelton Youth Bureau. He was suspended from the Youth Bureau when the complaint was brought to police in October 2017.

Munson was charged with first-degree sex assault and risk of injury to a minor April 10. He was released on a $100,000 bond.
