Seymour to Merge Animal Shelter with Woodbridge
Seymour's Board of Selectmen approved a one-year contract Tuesday.

WOODBRIDGE, CT - The Town of Seymour will close its animal shelter and merge with the Woodbridge shelter to help save money, according to Seymour officials.
The move is slated for July 1, and Seymour will pay Woodbridge $70,000 for the one-year contract, reports the New Haven Register. Included in the contract is an opt-out option with six months notice.
Seymour officials say the Woodbridge facility, which also includes Bethany, is larger, has more staff and saves the town from having to make needed repairs to its Silvermine Road shelter. Animals have been housed there since 2005, but the use was only supposed to be temporary.
