Shelton Businesses Fined During Tobacco Compliance Checks: PD

SHELTON, CT — Seven Shelton businesses were found to be non-compliant during unannounced tobacco and electronic cigarette compliance inspections on April 29, according to police.

According to a post Tuesday on the department's Facebook page, the inspections were conducted at 17 businesses in town by Shelton police, with assistance from the state Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services' tobacco prevention and enforcement program.

Seven retailers were found to be non-compliant during these inspections, according to police:

• Shelton Smoker - 500 Howe Ave
• Howe Market & Deli - 464 Howe Ave
• Valero - 276 Howe Ave
• Puff City - 405 River Rd
• Super Saver Spirits - 864 Bridgeport Ave
• Shelton Smoke City - 719 Bridgeport Ave
• Smoke World - 350 Bridgeport Ave

The offending clerks were each issued a $300 ticket, according to police.

Police also noted non-compliant inspection results are referred to the Department of Revenue Services for possible administrative action as well.

• Cleto’s Wine & Spirits – 402 Howe Ave
• Howe Liquor Mart – 61 Howe Ave
• Walgreens – 700 Bridgeport Ave
• JD’s Wine & Spirits – 781 River Rd
• Wheels – 18 Old Stratford Rd
• Cumberland Farms – 464 River Rd
• White Hills Wine & Spirits – 206 Leavenworth Rd
• Citgo – 442 River Rd
• Adro Liquor Store - 443 River Rd
• Citgo – 198 Leavenworth Rd
