Shelton Company Receives $100K State Grant

The grants went to Connecticut companies to support the adoption of additive technologies and advanced printing capabilities.

SHELTON, CT — A Shelton company is one of six to receive a $100,000 state grant awarded from the Additive Manufacturing Adoption Program.

According to a news release provided by Gov. Ned Lamont, Shelton-based West-Conn Tool and Die, Inc. was among the six recipients of the grants, which will be used to "support the companies in the adoption of additive technologies that improve operations and drive innovation, such as high-end 3D metal printers for functional parts and tooling and advanced plastic printing capabilities."

The companies, which will each provide a matching grant of an equal or greater amount of company funding, include:

  • West-Conn Tool and Die, Inc. of Shelton
  • Advanced Manufacturing, LLC of Windsor
  • Airex Rubber Products Corporation of Portland
  • Integrated Illumination Systems, Inc. (dba I2 Systems) of Morris
  • Mott Corporation of Farmington
  • TriMech Solutions, LLC of Deep River

The competitive grants are being awarded from the Additive Manufacturing Adoption Program, an initiative conceived by the Connecticut Manufacturing Innovation Fund Advisory Board and the Connecticut Center for Advanced Technology. The program is open to manufacturing companies with fewer than 300 employees.

"Manufacturing continues to be a high-growth sector nationwide and we want to do everything we can to ensure that Connecticut is at the forefront of the jobs and economic growth that it is delivering," Lamont said in a news release. "This grant program is a way that we can partner with small manufacturers in our state to support their growth."

In a separate release, Shelton state lawmakers applauded the announcement that West-Conn Tool and Die, Inc. has been awarded a $100,000 state grant to support the manufacturer's adoption of additive technologies that improve operations and drive innovation.

"We congratulate West-Conn Tool and Die on being awarded this competitive grant," Sen. Kevin Kelly said in a news release. "Our manufacturers are the engines that drive our economy. At the State Capitol, the Shelton legislative delegation is working to pass policies which help them grow jobs, modernize and thrive."

"More innovation in Shelton!" Rep. Ben McGorty said in a news release. "I am thrilled to support this grant and the benefit that it will provide to industry in our city, keeping Shelton on the cutting edge with its competitive local economy. I look forward to the advancements that we can make in manufacturing with the help of this funding."

"This grant will unlock access to innovative technologies for local manufacturing that spur economic growth in Shelton and throughout our state," Rep. Jason Perillo said in a news release. "I am grateful to see this award support local business and advance Connecticut's strong identity in manufacturing."
