Shelton Considers Possible $72.4 Million School Budget

That figure could change, according to officials.

SHELTON, CT — The Shelton Board of Education has passed a preliminary school budget of $72.4 million for next year, but that figure could change depending on what the state does with its budget and other factors, reports the Connecticut Post.

The district's current budget is $70.4 million, or roughly $14,700 per student. The additional $2 million the board approved for its preliminary spending plan is less than the board initially considered.

About 40 teachers, out of more than 420, are eligible for retirement, and depending on how many decide to retire before next year, the district could save more money, according to officials.
