Shelton, Derby Youth Eligible For Paid Summer Jobs Through 2026 WorkPlace Program

The program connects participants with six-week paid work experiences designed to promote workforce readiness and financial independence.

SHELTON-DERBY, CT — The WorkPlace is accepting applications for its 2026 Summer Youth Employment Program, which offers paid work opportunities for young people ages 14 to 24 living in Shelton, Derby and surrounding communities.

The WorkPlace conducts comprehensive planning and coordinates regional workforce development policy and programs to prepare people for careers while strengthening the workforce for employers.

The program connects eligible participants with six-week paid work experiences designed to promote workforce readiness and financial independence.

Applications must be submitted online by April 3 at 4 p.m.

According to The WorkPlace, participants work up to 20 hours per week at minimum wage for as many as seven weeks. Youth also receive work-readiness training before being placed at a worksite.

Eligible applicants must live in one of 20 participating municipalities, including Shelton and Derby, and complete an interview and eligibility documentation process.

The WorkPlace is also seeking local businesses and agencies willing to serve as employer worksites. Employers provide mentorship and supervision at no cost and gain additional summer staffing support.
