SHELTON, CT — Police said they have recently seen increases in phone scams, fraud, mail theft, check washing and related crimes in Shelton and advise residents to be on alert.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, police urged residents to exercise caution and safeguard their personal information in light of these increased scams.

Police also provided the following tips to help residents stay safe from scams:
