Shelton Police See Increase In Phone Scams, Mail Thefts: PD

SHELTON, CT — Police said they have recently seen increases in phone scams, fraud, mail theft, check washing and related crimes in Shelton and advise residents to be on alert.

In a Facebook post Tuesday, police urged residents to exercise caution and safeguard their personal information in light of these increased scams.

Police also provided the following tips to help residents stay safe from scams:

• Verify identities before sharing personal information.
• Use secure websites for online transactions.
• Keep sensitive information private.
• Stay informed about common scams.
• Trust your instincts; if it feels off, be cautious.
• Report suspicious activity to authorities.
• Educate others on scam prevention.
