Shelton School Investigates Blackface Photo On Snapchat
A student shared a photo in blackface on Snapchat and the school district is investigating.

SHELTON, CT — Shelton school officials are investigating after a white student was seen in blackface on Snapchat with a racist caption.
Superintendent Dr. Chris Clouet said the district is taking the incident seriously and is talking to students who created the photo and who were impacted by it, according to the Connecticut Post.
Shelton Intermediate School Principal Dina Marks sent a letter to parents and tweeted about the incident.

Intent & impact differ & it matters. For ex., often when blackface incidents happen, the offenders say that they were just having fun/making a joke. We can't know people’s intent, but we can assess the impact of harm & damage on those who are targeted by this offensive behavior
