Stew Leonard's Not Coming To Derby: Mayor Anita Dugatto

Last year, two major retailers closed their Derby locations.

DERBY, CT — In a Facebook post this week, the office of Derby Mayor Anita Dugatto states that the supermarket chain Stew Leonard's is not moving to the city.

"Many rumors have been circulating about Stew Leonard's coming to town," wrote officials. "Mayor Dugatto has reached out to Stew Leonard personally about the opportunity to establish a location in Derby. She was informed that the company has no interest in adding a Derby store at this time since they are currently busy with growth in other areas."

Last year, Derby lost its Walmart store and Adams IGA market, both located in the same complex on New Haven Avenue, and efforts to fill those commercial vacancies have been ongoing.
