Subway Moving CT Headquarters To Shelton, Location Announced
Subway has officially announced plans to move its global Connecticut headquarters from Milford to Shelton.

SHELTON, CT — Subway officially announced plans Monday to relocate the company's global Connecticut headquarters from Milford to a 90,000 square-foot space in Shelton next year.
According to a news release, the company has agreed to a 15-year commitment at 1 Corporate Drive in the heart of the Shelton business district. The move is planned to take place in spring 2023.
Subway CEO John Chidsey said this major investment will build on nearly five decades of history in the region.

"We explored multiple options as we started on the journey to refresh our offices in Connecticut, taking into consideration the community we've been a part of for nearly 50 years, while also ensuring we're able to provide our employees an exceptional workplace experience both professionally and personally," Chidsey said in a news release. "We're extremely excited about our new location in Shelton that will feature an upgraded, modernized workspace as well as outstanding amenities within the corporate complex."
Subway announced earlier this month that it was looking to move its headquarters to northeastern Fairfield County, returning the company to its Fairfield County roots.

According to Subway, all functions of the company's existing Milford-based team will transition to the new space.
The new Shelton headquarters will offer a number of on-site conveniences, including multiple dining options, state-of-the art fitness centers, medical facilities, covered parking, childcare centers and recreational activities such as tennis and basketball.
Director of Business Services Bill Ekstrom said the move to Shelton is all about enhancing the Subway employee experience.
"In addition to being able to offer many additional features and an elevated, contemporary space, it was of utmost importance that we found a location that would provide minimal disruption to our employees," Ekstrom said in a news release. "The close proximity to our current Milford home, just 10 miles down the road, will help us do just that, plus provide more services that will allow employees to take care of errands and personal needs on site."
Subway 80 percent of Connecticut is within a 50-minute driving distance from the new space, with easy access to major and alternative roadways.
"Connecticut has been home to Subway since the company was founded in 1965," Chidsey said. "From what began in Milford and continues in Shelton, we are pleased to strengthen our commitment to the region as we look to the future of the brand."
Subway started with a Bridgeport location in 1965 and expanded to 16 locations by 1974, according to the company's website. Founders Fred DeLuca and Peter Buck then began a franchising operation that culminated in it becoming one of the world's largest chains.
