Suspect Accused Of Stealing Vehicles In Shelton: Police

One of the thefts was a running vehicle that was at the Scooters/Exxon on Bridgeport Avenue, according to Shelton police.

SHELTON, CT — A 21-year-old Ansonia man was arrested on warrants charging him with larceny and related violations after police said he stole vehicles in Shelton.

Francisco Ayala was charged with three counts of first-degree larceny, one count of second-degree burglary, and one count each of conspiracy to commit larceny and conspiracy to commit burglary.

The thefts occurred in March and April, with one of them, a running vehicle he is accused of stealing from the Scooters/Exxon on Bridgeport Avenue, according to Shelton police. Another incident involved the thefts of multiple vehicles from a home on River Road.

"Ayala was a suspect in several motor vehicle larcenies from surrounding towns," Shelton Police Det. Richard Bango said in an email to Patch. "An Investigation by the Detective Bureau led to the arrest [of] the stolen motor vehicles from Shelton."

Ayala was held in lieu of bail of $350,000, and is scheduled to appear in Derby Superior Court on Nov. 1.
