Teen, 16, Accused Of Fatally Stabbing James McGrath, 17: Shelton PD
A teen from Milford is accused of fatally stabbing McGrath, of Shelton, who was a Fairfield Prep student, according to police.

SHELTON, CT — A 16-year-old from Milford has been charged in connection with the death of James McGrath, 17, who was fatally stabbed over the weekend, according to Shelton Det. Richard Bango.
The teen, who was not named, is charged with murder and three counts of first-degree assault, police said. He is being held in lieu of a $2 million bond and is due in court on Wednesday. Three other teens were injured in the stabbing, police have previously said.
McGrath was stabbed to death in Shelton late Saturday.

"The Shelton Detective Bureau is still actively investigating this case and anyone with information is encouraged to call the Shelton Police Department at 203-924-1544," Bango said.

SHELTON, CT — As the community continues to mourn the loss of James McGrath, a Shelton resident and Fairfield College Preparatory School student killed in a weekend stabbing incident, the Shelton High School boys lacrosse team plans to honor McGrath during a game Wednesday against Fairfield Prep.
In a tweet Tuesday, Shelton High School Principal Kathy Riddle invited the community to join both schools in honoring the life of McGrath and his family.
The game is scheduled to take place Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, however those attending are asked to wear baby blue in honor of McGrath.
"Please join Shelton High School and the Fairfield Prep community in honoring the life of Jimmy McGrath and his family," Riddle said on Twitter.

To further honor McGrath, a GoFundMe has been set up to help support his family at this time. As of Tuesday evening, the campaign has raised over $95,000 and received over 1,000 donations.
The page was set up by friends and family of the McGrath's. Those who wish to donate to the page can do so here.
"We ask for love and support for the McGrath family at this time," the campaign's description reads. "We love you forever Jimmy."
Over 100 comments have also been posted to the campaign, each of which speak fondly of McGrath and offer prayers and condolences to his loved ones.
McGrath, 17, died after he and three other people were stabbed late Saturday night in Shelton, according to police.
Over the weekend, Police Lt. Robert Kozlowsky said officers located four stabbing victims in the area of Laurel Glen Drive. They were each given medical attention and sent to a hospital.
A 17-year-old man, now identified as McGrath, was later pronounced dead, Kozlowsky said.
In a lengthy statement released Monday, Fairfield Prep officials extended their deepest sympathies to all who knew McGrath, a junior at the school.
"The Fairfield Prep community mourns the loss of junior Jimmy McGrath and we extend our deepest sympathies to the McGrath family," the statement reads. "Jimmy was a beloved student and athlete on the football and lacrosse teams, and will forever be a member of the Prep Brotherhood."

According to the school, over 1,000 people gathered for a private prayer service on campus Sunday, which was followed by a school-wide service Monday morning, during which Christian Cashman, the school's president, addressed students, faculty and staff.
"I offer once again Prep's loving condolence and embrace of the McGrath family," Cashman said in a statement. "May the spirit of healing peace and love enfold them, and may we be instruments of peace and healing in the days ahead. May God bless Jimmy McGrath, Class of 2023, forever a man for others, forever a son of Fairfield Prep."
In the coming days, the leadership team, Jesuit priests, campus ministers and counselors of both Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University will offer their support and help to students and faculty grieving this tragic loss.
