Police said a Trumbull woman, 19, was arrested in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in Shelton in which a 64-year-old woman was killed.

SHELTON, CT — A Trumbull woman was arrested Thursday in connection to a fatal hit-and-run in Shelton earlier this month in which a 64-year-old woman was killed, according to police.
In a news release, Police Det. Richard Bango said officers were called to the area of Howe Avenue and White Street just after midnight on Jan. 6 after receiving a report of a pedestrian lying in the road.
Officers found the unresponsive woman, who was later identified as Stephanie Peterson, 64, of Shelton. She was taken to Bridgeport Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead, Bango said.

The driver was identified as Ariela Treysler, 19, of Trumbull, and police obtained a warrant for her arrest, Bango said.
Treysler was arrested Thursday and charged with felony evading responsibly. She was released on a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court next month, according to Bango.
The Shelton Herald reports Peterson was on her way home from work at Stop and Shop in Ansonia and was hit by the car a few hundred feet away from her Shelton home.
A candlelight vigil was recently held to honor Peterson, who grew up in Bridgeport and was a fixture in the community for decades, according to the Shelton Herald.
