All-Girls Horizons Program Open House, July 27
Horizons at The Ethel Walker School will host an open house for prospective students on July 27.

SIMSBURY, CT - From The Ethel Walker School - Horizons: Horizons at The Ethel Walker School is the nation's first all-girls Horizons program in the country which provides underserved students who attend Hartford public schools with a free six-week academic and enrichment program. This year, 60 girls from three Hartford public schools are participating in the program.
Members of the public and media are invited to visit our Simsbury campus to learn more about the program and to meet with students and teachers.

The goals of the Horizons program includes: the prevention of summer learning loss; improved school attendance; improved social and interpersonal skills; the building of self-esteem, resourcefulness and judgement in students; and to encourage parents to be active in their daughter's education. In addition to academic activities, the girls are provided with daily swimming lessons and enrichment opportunities both on campus and in the community. Summer 2017 marks the third year that the program has been in place at Walker's Simsbury campus.
