Clarkson University, Potsdam NY

  • Karl Evan Spooner of West Simsbury received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Clarkson University on May 13.

  • Austin Arakelian of Weatogue, majoring in exercise and sport science, was among 1,920 students at Coastal Carolina University who made the spring 2017 Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. To qualify for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time.

Curry College, Milton MA

  • Curry College is proud to announce that Eileen Hoffman of Simsbury has been named to the Dean's List every year during her enrollment at the College. The Dean's List reception took place at Curry College in April 2017 and recognized 57 members of the Class of 2017 for their exceptional academic achievement.
    To qualify for the Dean's List, students must earn a 3.30 GPA, have no incompletes, and have no grade lower than a "C" for the semester. Full-time students must carry 12 or more graded credits for the semester.

Emmanuel College, Boston MA

  • Anders Flater of Weatogue was named to the Emmanuel College Dean's List for the spring 2017 semester. To earn a spot on the Dean's List, students must achieve a grade point average of 3.5 or higher for a 16-credit semester.

James Madison University, Harrisonburg VA

  • James Madison University is pleased to announce the following local students made the dean's list for the spring 2017 semester: Meghan Driscoll of Weatogue, who is majoring in interdisciplinary liberal studies and is scheduled to graduate in 2018; Reid Shafer of Simsbury, who is majoring in finance and is scheduled to graduate in 2017; and Deanna Frink of Simsbury, who is majoring in communication studies and is scheduled to graduate in 2017.
  • James Madison University is pleased to announce the following students from Simsbury graduated during the May 5, 2017 commencement exercises: Deanna Frink, who graduated with a degree in communication studies, and Reid Shafer, who graduated with a degree in finance.

Providence College, Providence RI

  • Avery Coombes, a resident of Simsbury and a member of the class of 2020, has been named to the Dean's List at Providence College for the spring 2017 semester. To qualify for the Dean’s List, students must achieve at least a 3.55 grade point average with a minimum of 12 credits.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

  • Five local residents were among the approximately 1,000 graduates who received their degrees at the University of Hartford's Undergraduate Commencement on Sunday, May 21: Nancy Meyer of Simsbury, a nursing major in the University's College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions, received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Katherine Larsen of Tariffville, a printmaking major in the University's Hartford Art School, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts; Sarah Sparkowski of Simsbury, a printmaking major in the University's Hartford Art School, received a Bachelor of Fine Arts; Lourdes Garcia of Simsbury, a student in the University Studies program in the University's University Studies program, received a Bachelor of Arts; and Anne Martocci of Tariffville, a student in the University Studies program in in the University's University Studies program, received a Bachelor of Arts.
