Bucknell University, Lewisburg PA

  • Bucknell University has released the dean's list for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2016-17 academic year. A student must earn a grade point average of 3.5 or higher on a scale of 4.0 to receive dean's list recognition. Simsbury students achieving the honr are Emma Alfeld, class of 2020, and John Bitterli, class of 2020.

Keene State College, Keene NY

  • Matthew Pope of Simsbury was recently named to the fall 2016 dean's list at Keene State College. Pope was among 1,400 students who were honored for academic excellence in the fall 2016 semester. To qualify for the dean's list, Keene State undergraduates must be enrolled in a degree program and must have completed a minimum of six credit hours in the semester, receiving no failing or incomplete grades. Students must achieve a 3.5 or higher grade point average on a 4.0 scale to earn dean's list honors.

Pomfret School, Pomfret CT

  • Amanda Lim of Simsbury from the Class of 2017 was named to the fall 2016 Head of School Scholar Honors list at Pomfret School. To achieve this level of distinction, Amanda earned a grade point average of at least 4.00 and received no grade lower than an A-.

  • Sydney L. Davis, majoring in Accounting, is among more than 100 students who presented their Product Development and Innovation projects at the Product Innovation Showcase held in Rivers Memorial Hall on the University campus. The Product Innovation Showcase is the culmination of a co-curricular course where entrepreneurial teams of Engineering and Business students collaborate for a full semester to turn new product ideas into marketable products, some of which could potentially receive patents. Engineering students develop a functional prototype and Business students develop the business plan. The format of the event is a competition where VIP visitors are given $1 million "Western New England University dollars" to invest in the product innovation that demonstrates the most commercial viability. Davis's project is entitled SnowBot. The SnowBot is a robot that will shovel your walkways.
