Campus Notes - Simsbury Students

SIMSBURY, CT — Here are some milestones and accomplishments achieved recently by college students from Simsbury, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Coastal Carolina University, Conway SC

• Austin Arakelian, a freshman majoring in exercise and sport science from Weatogue, was among 2,253 students at Coastal Carolina University who made the fall 2016 Dean's List. To qualify for the Dean's List, freshmen must earn a 3.25 grade point average, and upperclassmen must earn a 3.5 grade point average. To qualify for the President's List, students must earn a 4.0 grade point average. All students must be enrolled full time.

Colby College, Waterville ME

• Lainey N. Battiston of Simsbury was named to the Dean's List at Colby College in Waterville, Maine, for outstanding academic achievement during the fall semester of the 2016-17 year. Battiston is one of 521 Colby students -- or 27 percent of the student body -- to qualify for the Dean's List this semester.
  Battiston, a member of the Class of 2017, attended Ethel Walker School and is the daughter of Jeff Battiston of Granby and Kathleen Bernard of Freeport, Maine. Battiston earned a semester grade point average of 3.75 or higher this spring to be included on Colby's highly selective Dean's List.

Fairfield University, Fairfield CT

• Olivia Anne Coe of Simsbury received Dean's List honors for the fall 2016 semester. In order to be placed on the Dean's List, students must have completed a minimum of 12 credit hours in a semester, have no outstanding or incomplete grades for that semester, and have attained a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better.

Roger Williams University, Bristol RI

• Seven students from Simsbury have been named to the fall 2016 Dean's List at Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. Full-time students who complete 12 or more credits per semester and earn a GPA of 3.4 or higher are placed on the Dean's List that semester. The Simsbury students are Karissa Ekwall, Alanna Hammond, Dana Kelly, Megan Livingston, Kelsey Novy, Meaghan Ryan and Matthew Taylor.

Siena College, Loudonville NY

• Brendan Cummings has been named to the Siena College Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. Cummings is a Biology BS major from West Simsbury. To be named to the Dean's List, a student's grade point average for the semester must be between 3.5 and 3.89.

University of Delaware, Newark DE

• Seven students from Simsbury have been named to the University of Delaware Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester: Samuel Carlson, Colin Noble, Bryanne Sakitis, Ellen Schenk, Serena Schick, Steven Steijn and Melissa Stumper of Simsbury. To meet eligibility requirements for the Dean's List, a student must be enrolled full-time and earn a GPA of 3.33 or above (on a 4.0 scale) for the semester.

University of Hartford, West Hartford CT

• The University of Hartford is pleased to announce the following Simsbury students have been named to the Dean's List for fall 2016: Nicholas D'Annolfo, Parker Eldridge, Cameron Forman, Jeannette Franco, Masami Fukawa, Tristan Gaborit, Krista Gannon, Katherine Larsen, Claudia Lungarini, Emma Moran, Lindsay Nelson, Gabrielle Raulinaitis, Nicholas Rylands, Sarah Sparkowski, Meaghan Talbot, Emma Taylor and Kristin Weiss.
