Emerson College, Boston MA
- Kelly Salina of Simsbury has been named to the Emerson College Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. Salina is majoring in Writing Lit and Publishing BFA. The requirement to make Emerson's Dean's List is a grade point average of 3.7 or higher.
Nichols College, Dudley MA

- David Melanson, an Accounting major from Simsbury, has achieved Dean's High Honors for the fall 2016 term at Nichols College in Dudley, Mass. The Nichols College Dean's List recognizes students who have achieved high grades during a single semester. In order to be included in the Dean's List, a student must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.2 for at least 12 credit-hours and receive no grade below a C+ during the semester. A student who earns a grade point average of 3.6 or higher is awarded Dean's High Honors.
Pennsylvania State University, State College PA
- Jesse Pepperman of Simsbury was recently initiated into The Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's oldest and most selective all-discipline collegiate honor society. Pepperman was initiated at Pennsylvania State University. Pepperman is among approximately 30,000 students, faculty, professional staff and alumni to be initiated into Phi Kappa Phi each year. Membership is by invitation only and requires nomination and approval by a chapter. Only the top 10 percent of seniors and 7.5 percent of juniors are eligible for membership. Graduate students in the top 10 percent of the number of candidates for graduate degrees may also qualify, as do faculty, professional staff and alumni who have achieved scholarly distinction.

- Simsbury residents Jennifer Kornacki, Class of 2020, and Natalie McDonough, Class of 2020, have been named to the Dean's List for the fall 2016 semester. To qualify for the Dean's List, students must have a semester grade point average of 3.50 or better and must have completed successfully all courses for which they were registered.
Union College, Schenectady NY
- Jordan Whaley, of Simsbury, is a student-athlete this academic year at Union College. Union College athletes are committed to the pursuit of academic and competitive excellence on the field and in the classroom. Whaley, a member of the Class of 2019, is on the baseball team.
University of Hartford, West Hartford CT
- Students in the University of Hartford's The Hartt School are bringing live musical performances to family living rooms-literally-as part of an initiative called Hartt@Home. Students, including Allison Hughes of West Simsbury, play a small, intimate concert at a home, with the host's family and friends as the audience. Since it began in 2016, Hartt musicians have visited living rooms in Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York.
University of South Carolina Upstate, Spartanburg SC
- Katherine Sartori of Tariffville has been named to the fall 2016 Chancellor's List at the University of South Carolina Upstate. To be eligible for the Chancellor's List, students must earn a 4.0 and be enrolled in at least 12 course hours.
