Heavner Sworn in as First Selectman at Simsbury Library
Lisa Heavner was sworn in as Simsbury first selectman on Saturday, the day Mary Glassman's resignation took effect.

Lisa Heavner, on the day she was sworn in as first selectman of Simsbury, said she wants to promote environmental stewardship and will listen to the concerns of residents in town, according to a report in the Hartford Courant.
The new first selectman, a Democrat, said she will continue a policy of fiscal restraint in town spending, which recently resulted in a tax decrease, according to the article.
Heavner was sworn in at Simsbury Library in front of about 50 people, the Courant reported. She replaces former First Selectman Mary Glassman, a Democrat who resigned after a dispute with Republicans on the Board of Selectmen over a pay cut. Although the pay cut was reversed for the remainder of the term of office, which ends in November, Glassman decided to resign nevertheless.

A brief ceremony for the public at 12:30 p.m. Monday will be held in Eno Memorial Hall to honor Heavner.
