Simsbury Library To Train New 'Dungeon Masters'

The Simsbury Library later this month is hosting a special program for sixth-graders teaching them how to play 'Dungeons & Dragons.'

SIMSBURY, CT — Those who've seen the hit Netflix series "Stranger Things" know the role the "Dungeons & Dragons" role-playing game played in the characters' 1980s lives.

And with "D&D," sort of, making a comeback, especially with a hit movie out last year, the famous game is back in the national picture.

Starting Thursday, Sept. 21, the Simsbury Public Library has a special, weekly program aimed at teaching sixth-graders how to play the game, which is set in a fictional time and place dominated by dragons, monsters, elves and other fantasy components.

Families can register children at this link.

"If you're interested in learning how to play D&D, this beginner campaign is for you. You'll learn to play as you go, and don't need to worry about creating a character for this game," wrote the library on social media.

The beginner level games will go from 4 to 5 p.m. each Thursday at the library, which is located at 725 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury.
