New Elementary Principal Appointed in Simsbury

The new principal will begin at Tootin' Hills on Jan. 1, 2016.

The coming new year will bring a new principal into the office at Tootin’ Hills Elementary School, as the Simsbury Board of Education has appointed Margaret Seidel to the position.

The comprehensive process of selecting a principal for Tootin’ Hills School began this past September, and included several focus groups comprised of parents/guardians, administrators, and faculty members.

Seidel has served as the assistant principal at Squadron Line Elementary School for the past two-and-a-half years. Prior to this role, she served as an elementary classroom and special education teacher for over 13 years in Avon, New York state and North Carolina.

Seidel received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts from SUNY–Geneseo and SUNY–Stony Brook, respectively. She also holds her Certification in Educational Leadership from Sacred Heart University.

Simsbury Public Schools Superintendent Matt Curtis said, “Maggie Seidel brings experience as both a classroom teacher and a special education teacher, a key attribute that the Tootin’ Hills community was looking for in a leader. She is a common sense problem solver who understands the joys and stresses of working in an elementary school. She brings high energy to her leadership, but at the same time she is a grounded person who understands our community.”
