Simsbury Department Supervisor of Art K-12 Announced

Shannon Gagne, currently a Simsbury High School art educator, will assume her official duties at the beginning of the 2015-16 school year.

Simsbury High School art educator Shannon Gagne has been appointed to the position of Department Supervisor of Art K-12.

Gagne will assume her official duties with the commencement of the 2015-16 school year. Her appointment marks the culmination of a rigorous and thorough selection process, including involving Simsbury Public Schools faculty to serve on special interview committees.

Gagne is currently completing her 14th year in Simsbury as an art educator at the secondary level. Prior to coming to Simsbury, Gagne served as an elementary art teacher for the Enfield Public Schools.

She earned her BFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art and her Masters from Wesleyan University.

On May 29, Assistant Superintendent Susan Homrok-Lemke sent an e-mail to colleagues welcoming Gagne to the position.

She wrote, “Throughout the interview process, Shannon articulated her passion for collaboration, inclusion, and the development of a collective vision for art education in Simsbury. Shannon will be an outstanding addition to the leadership team of the Simsbury Public Schools.”
