Simsbury High School Crew Races in New England Regional Regatta

Simsbury Crew competed in 8th annual New England Junior and High School Regional Championship Regatta on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, MA

The occasional rain and cloudy weather on Sunday, October 8th, didn’t dampen the spirits of the Simsbury High School boys’ and girls’ varsity crew teams as they made their way to Worcester, MA, to compete in the 8th annual New England Junior and High School Regional Championship Regatta. The first and second boats were eager to row the 2.5-mile course as this was first race of the season for Simsbury. The teams launched from the Donahue Rowing Center on Lake Quinsigamond while spectators lined the shores of the lake to watch the teams race throughout the day. More than 400 crews from 52 teams across the New England area participated in the regatta.

At the end of the month, the Simsbury crew team departs for Saratoga Springs, NY, to compete in the Head of the Fish Regatta, which is one of the largest in the country with over 160 teams and 1600 crews from across the northeast.

The crew team is a non-profit club founded in 1971 and relies on the generous support and donations of the local community. For more information about the Simsbury crew program and to see upcoming events, visit www.simsburycrew.org.
