Simsbury High School Seniors Awarded Art Scholarships

Josephine Black and Shanan Berry, both seniors at Simsbury High School, have been awarded $1,000 scholarships to pursue careers in the arts.

Two Simsbury High School art students are recipients of The Avon Association of Artists’ annual scholarships.

Josephine Black and Shanan Berry, both seniors, have been awarded $1,000 scholarships to pursue careers in the arts.

Under the guidance of his advanced placement art teacher Thea Ciciotte, Berry has built up a portfolio of impressive drawings. Black was aided in her skillfully crafted 3D art by her teacher, Shannon Gagne.

Both students have taken art classes throughout their high school careers.

An award ceremony took place on June 7 at the Simsbury Public Library. Student artists, their families, and their teachers celebrated the artistic achievements of all of the scholarship recipients.
