Simsbury Library Honors 'Sheroes' With Exhibit By Farmington Artist
The exhibit celebrating Women's History Month features portraits of famous women by a Farmington artist.

SIMSBURY, CT — Area residents visiting the Simsbury Public Library this month will be able to do much more than borrow books.
They will be able to celebrate Women's History Month by looking at portraits of some of the female heroes in history ... or, as artist Kate Emery, a Farmington resident, calls them, "Sheroes."
Emery's series of oil painting portraits will be on display at the Simsbury Public Library, 725 Hopmeadow St., Simsbury, through March 31 and it is free and open to the public.

Her solo exhibit features portraits “past, present, and personal,” according to library officials.
Works will include notables such as Madam Curie, Greta Thunburg and Ruth Bader Ginsburg, locals such as Harriet Beecher Stowe and Theodate Pope Riddle, as well as a personal "shero" or two.

In addition to honoring women through her art, Emery invites folks to visit and learn a little more about these “Sheroes” and nominate their own "shero" through her website at KateEmery.com/nomination.
Participants are asked to include a photo and description of their "shero" and Emery will pick one winner to receive a free portrait.
The show can be seen during the Simsbury Public Library's regular hours.
