St. Mary's School Upgrades Technology & Coding Program
The program will enhance technology and coding for students in K-8th grade for the upcoming school year.

From St. Mary's School: St. Mary’s School today announced that it is extending its leadership in utilizing technology as part of its core curriculum by implementing an upgraded technology and coding program for all students in grades K through 8 for the upcoming school year. These tangible enhancements will take two forms. The school, which was one of the first schools in the State of Connecticut to provide students with iPads five years ago, will be offering all students next generation iPads. St. Mary’s will also be expanding its curriculum to include Apple’s “Swift Playground” coding curriculum and the use of Dot and Dash robots.
“St. Mary’s has always been a leader in evolving our curriculum and providing resources to best equip our students to be successful young adults and to engage them in lifelong learning,” said Margaret Williamson, the school’s principal.
“These enhancements both upgrade and introduce new elements that will directly benefit our students in a meaningful way. Coding is an essential skill in today’s society as technology plays an ever increasing role. Coding drives innovation, allows children to be creative, and builds confidence. By utilizing the Swift Playground coding curriculum we will offer our students a range of resources that take students from no coding experience to building their first apps. Additionally, in grades K through 5 we will be supplementing the new curriculum with the use of Dash and Dot robots from Wonder Workshops to engage students and make learning fun. We are also proud to be offering all students next generation iPads to continue to assist them in the learning process. Our experience since we first introduced our “all iPad program” five years ago has demonstrated that iPads are a valuable tool that enhance and amplify the learning process.”
