Fiorita, Kornhaas & Company, PC, Appoints Two New Principals

Brenda M. Aurelia and Scott R. Fawcett appointed new principals of the Danbury/Southbury accounting firm Fiorita, Kornhaas & Company, P.C.

The accounting firm of Fiorita, Kornhaas & Company, P.C., with offices in Danbury and Southbury, is pleased to announce the appointment of two new principals, Brenda M. Aurelia and Scott R. Fawcett. Founded in 1973, the firm (fkcpas.com) announced the promotions as a result of the many years of dedication and commitment that Ms. Aurelia and Mr. Fawcett have exhibited.

Ms. Aurelia joined Fiorita, Kornhaas & Company in 1987 and serves many of the firm’s business and individual clients, including those in the real estate, retail, and high wealth areas. In her expanded role, she will continue to manage the firm’s accounting and tax departments where she brings a broad range of expertise in partnership and corporate taxes and extensive experience in tax examination representation. Ms. Aurelia was responsible for the development of the firm’s estate and trust services department where she oversees estate administration, probate services, trust administration, and tax reporting functions of the firm. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the Connecticut Society of CPAs (CTCPA), the WestConn Society, and the Immaculate High School Alumni Association. She is a 1983 graduate of Western Connecticut State University and holds a B.B.A. in Finance. She resides in Newtown, CT, with her family and her interests include gardening, boating, travel, and fundraising for local charities and non-profit organizations.

Mr. Fawcett joined Fiorita, Kornhaas & Company in 1988, after earning his B.B.A. in Accounting from Western Connecticut State University. As principal, Mr. Fawcett is responsible for client development as well as supervision of all compilation, review and audit engagements within the firm and direction of all tax preparation services for corporations, partnerships, and non-profit organizations. His primary focus is family-owned businesses and he has extensive knowledge in the areas of auto dealerships, manufacturing and not-for-profit organizations. In addition, Mr. Fawcett also provides computer hardware and software consulting to corporate clients as well as valuation analysis and personal tax planning. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA). the Connecticut Society of CPAs (CTCPA), and the WestConn Society. He resides in Bethel, CT, with his family and serves as treasurer of St. Thomas Church in Bethel. His interests include playing golf, volleyball, and coaching his son’s baseball teams.
