Gun Proposal is a No Go Again in Southbury: Report

This is the second time a proposal concerning guns has not been voted on nor approved by the Board of Selectmen.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Once again the Board of Selectmen this week took no action on gun proposals. Selectman Michael Roses wanted the selectmen to draft resolutions supporting two pending bills in Hartford, the banning of bump stocks and ghost guns in the state, but no vote was taken, the Republican-American reports.

About 50 people attended a meeting this week on the topic. A majority of the selectmen said they don't think the issue is relevant to the local board because it is a state issue.

Some residents who spoke blamed Democrats for trying to bring up the gun issue as a divisive tactic. Last year, Democrats tried to submit an ordinance that would have banned guns on town property and buildings but that also did not get approved.
