Music of Thomas Jefferson to be Held in Southbury

Thomas Jefferson was an accomplished violinist and his Martha played guitar and harpsichord.

Music was an important part of their life together at Monticello. Rosewood Chamber Ensemble will perform pieces from Jefferson’s personal collection as well as other music from his era.

This is a special opportunity to hear this music played on period American instruments, including flutes made in Connecticut and a Martin guitar from Pennsylvania, as well as reproductions of European instruments from the 1800s.

Comments about the instruments, Jefferson and his music will enhance the understanding of the works on the program. Sponsored by the Gloria Gray Foundation.
