• Southbury Hopes To Look A Little More Like A Holiday Postcard This Year (patch.com) — Southbury is planning a postcard-worthy holiday makeover along a two-mile stretch of Main Street South, adding illuminated wreaths and garlands to about 150 lamp posts. Town officials are coordinating electrical upgrades, long-term reusable decorations, and possible participation from Southbury Green, the movie theater property, and Main Street businesses to create a coordinated holiday streetscape and marketing push.

• Milling and Resurfacing on Route 487 in Southbury and Oxford (ct.gov) — Expect daytime lane closures on Route 487 in Southbury from Kettletown State Park to Route 67 while the state mills and resurfaces the road between September 1 and 18. Work will run weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with traffic control guiding drivers and possible schedule changes if weather interferes.

• Several Connecticut towns make the switch to four-day municipal work weeks (newenglandnewspress.com) — Southbury residents now have town offices open later Monday through Thursday under a four-day workweek pilot that began in April 2025, with offices closed Fridays. The schedule aims to improve evening access to services and mirrors a growing trend among Connecticut towns experimenting with compressed municipal workweeks to aid hiring and better serve residents.
