Pomperaug High School Evacuated After Thermometer Breaks

A hazmat situation has been reported at Pomperaug High School, WFSB 3 reports.

Students at the high school were evacuated for about 30 minutes after a thermometer dropped inside a classroom.

One student was taken to a local hospital as a precaution, WFSB 3 reports.

NBC Connecticut reports students have been moved to the gym after a mercury spill at the Southbury school.

Students will remain quarantined until the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection responds.
