The university recently received a $25,000 donation from a Southbury firm to start the scholarship for female business students.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Sacred Heart University recently received a $25,000 donation from The Entrepreneur Source, a Southbury-based consultant firm, to fund an annual scholarship for female business students.
The new Lisa Powell Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund will benefit one female business student minoring in entrepreneurship each year. Eligible candidates must be enrolled in the Jack Welch College of Business and maintain at least a 3.0 GPA.
The scholarship fund is a result of two families’ passion for education and dedication to the university.

The son of Lori Tyll, vice-president of operations for The Entrepreneur Source, is a 2009 SHU graduate. Tyll said her son had a great experience on the Fairfield campus, and her family’s love for SHU remained so strong throughout the years that her husband donated to the University often.

Since her husband’s passing in 2014, Tyll wanted to continue to support SHU. She spoke to close friend Terry Powell, founder of The Entrepreneur Source, and they decided to create a scholarship fund in the name of Powell’s daughter, Lisa. A former employee of The Entrepreneur Source and a supporter of women in business, Lisa passed away last spring.
Lisa was known for her generosity, friendship and dedication to others. The scholarship recognizes her passion for education and empowering businesswomen, he said.
“It is an honor to assist female entrepreneurs with this scholarship while honoring the life of my daughter Lisa,” said Powell.
The scholarship was made possible by The Entrepreneur Source, a Southbury-based firm with 32 years of expertise in the franchise coaching field.
