Southbury Bear Again Takes Hint To Leave
Some guests need a strong clue to leave. The video as seen in the Neighbors app shows a bear run away after a resident yells at it.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Some guests just can't take a hint that they aren't wanted around anymore and need a strong push to get out. In this case a bear spotted in Southbury once again was scared away by a resident after the bear started poking around a recycling bin.
The video as seen in the Neighbors app shows a bear sniff around the bin. Around the 44-second mark a resident yells at the bear and the bear hightails it out of the driveway.
Another bear sighting was seen on video at the same location Jan. 11.

Black bears have become a more common sight in Connecticut during recent years.
The state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection recommends that residents remove birdfeeders and secure any potential food sources. Bears have no problem snacking on trash, barbeque grill leftovers, compost and pet food. They are often scared away by loud noises.

In most situations bears will wander back to more secluded areas and they can often be scared away by loud noises. Bears were spotted more than 8,000 times in 2018. Sightings can be reported to DEEP.
