SOUTHBURY, CT — Santa, thwarted by a dastardly delivery driver, saw his losses recouped somewhat by a Southbury police officer.

On Tuesday, the police responded to a report of abandoned packages along the roadside. Upon further investigation, it was learned that a delivery driver was likely responsible for discarding the packages, according to police officials posting on the Department's Facebook page. The majority of the packages had been opened, and their contents were missing, but a few remained unopened.

A Southbury police officer "who prefers to remain anonymous" took the initiative to personally deliver all the packages to their rightful owners, ensuring that they received their items in time for the holidays, police officials said.
