Southbury Takes a Look at Tax Relief Programs: Report

A public meeting is scheduled for this week.

SOUTHBURY, CT — Town officials are exploring whether there needs to be an update to tax relief programs currently offered to residents including veterans and seniors in town, reports Bill Bittar, of the Republican-American.

The current tax relief programs haven't been updated in a decade and the first meeting is 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Town Hall. It's open to the public.

If additional tax relief is approved, officials note that would impact the rest of the taxpayers and they will keep that in mind, the Rep-Am reports.

Most tax relief programs are confined to seniors, veterans and the disabled, but officials say there are some that may be available for young families and small businesses too.
