Upon arrival police officers located an unresponsive male victim lying on the floor in the residence, said Kelly Grant, the State Police spokeswoman.

Officers and EMS rendered first aid, but determined there were no signs of life and the male victim, Dennis R. Fitzsimmons, 74, of 103 Jacob Road, was pronounced deceased. Officers checked the residence for other victims, none were found.

Through the course of the investigation, officers located a second male also in the residence.

While speaking with officers, the second male suddenly became ill and unconscious, Grant said.

Officers and EMS rendered first aid and the second male was transported to Waterbury Hospital for evaluation.

WDMC detectives responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Through the course of their investigation, detectives determined that the second male, now suspect, Timothy Fitzsimmons, 43, was responsible for the death of the male victim, Grant said.
