Southington Man Sentenced in Fatal Fire Case

Eric Morelli was handed a prison sentenced after he pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

A judge sentenced Eric Morelli to 15 years in prison, suspended after seven years with five years of probation.

Morelli pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter earlier this year. He threw a firework into a friend’s apartment in June 2014.

Members of his family and of victim Kristen Milano’s family sat by as the judge handed down the sentence, according to the Record-Journal. He will have to make a $1,000 donation for each year of his probation and follow other mandates.

Morelli said he threw the firework in an attempt to wake a friend, but the firework caused a fire that killed his sister Kristen Milano.
