ESPN Bracing For New Round Of Layoffs: Reports

The worldwide leader in sports is getting ready for another round of job losses, according to national reports.

BRISTOL, CT — ESPN is expected to soon announce another round of layoffs, as first reported by Puck Media, which has broken similar stories at ESPN previously.

This time around 30 jobs are on the chopping block, according to Puck Media. Six years ago, the worldwide leader in sports laid off 300 people.

The Sports Business Journal reports that most of the jobs targeted for layoffs are off-camera.

The reason cited for the layoffs is that Disney, which is ESPN's parent company, lost $100 million when it was off YouTube TV in late 2025, as the two sides couldn't come to terms at the time on a new deal.

The layoffs have nothing to do with the recent acquisition by ESPN of the NFL Network and its assets. The NFL secured a 10 percent stake in ESPN as part of the negotiated deal.

Layoffs have hit ESPN hard over the years. Between 2015 and 2017, nearly 400 jobs were lost at ESPN, and 300 more jobs were cut in 2020, according to Awful Announcing.
