Southington Community Theatre announces auditions for The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee

Auditions for Southington Community Theatre’s July production of the musical The 25^th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee will take place on Sunday, May 15 from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday, May 17 from 7-9 p.m. will callbacks on Wednesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at Southington Community Theatre Hall, 1237 Marion Avenue (the old Marion Firehouse), Marion, CT. Those who audition should come prepared with 16-32 bars of music to sing and will be asked to read from the script.  An accompanist will be provided.  

Parts are available for 18+ (including students graduating in June ’11). The production will be directed by Tony Lamberto and produced by Heidi Bass-Lamberto.

Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

The 25^th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
