Southington Community Theatre to present The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee July 9, 10, 14, 15 and 16

Southington Community Theatre will present the musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee July 9, 14, 15 and 16 at 7:30
p.m. at Hatton Elementary School, 50 Spring Lake Road, Southington. There will also be a matinee performance on July 10 at 2 p.m. Tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door, and are available at Just For You…Country Gifts, 979 Meriden-Waterbury Road, Plantsville, The Music Shop, 405 Queen Street, Southington, and at the door.

The show may not be appropriate for younger audiences due to language and innuendos.

The show stars a talented cast of local performers, including Jessica Wolf, Jeffrey O’Brien, Dan Dietz, Kayla Teel, CharlieDan Sheffy, Ashley Dambowsky, Madeline McCord, Bruce Barger, Martin Smith and Peter Pristic. The production is directed by Tony Lamberto, music directed by Alan Dougherty, stage managed by Chris Palmieri, choreographed by Heidi Bass-Lamberto and Autumn Sheffy, and produced by Heidi Bass-Lamberto.

Six young people in the throes of puberty, overseen by grown-ups who barely managed to escape childhood themselves, learn that winning isn't everything and that losing doesn't necessarily make you a loser.

The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee is a hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicling the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime. The show's Tony Award winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of hit musicals about the unlikeliest of heroes: a quirky yet charming cast of outsiders for whom a spelling bee is the one place where they can stand out and fit in at the same time.
