Lymphedema program presents overview and management strategies

MERIDEN - The World Health Organization estimates that over 250 million people worldwide live with lymphedema or chronic swelling. This disease, that affects the arms and legs, can cause pain, limit mobility and negatively affect the quality of life.
A free program, “Understanding Lymphedema,” on Thursday, Oct. 24 will provide information about the causes and effects, management techniques and how skilled occupational and physical therapy can help. The event will be held at 10:30 a.m., Meriden Senior Center, 22 W. Main St. Presenter will be Lynn Beard OTR/L, CLT-LANA, Hartford Hospital Rehabilitation Network. Hartford HealthCare Senior Services is sponsoring.
