• Plantsville lottery player hits $100K on Pinball Wizard scratch-off (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A Plantsville resident just claimed a $100,000 Connecticut Lottery prize from a Pinball Wizard 2nd Edition scratch-off bought at Maganti Oil Energy Inc. in Southington. Lottery officials recorded the win on Sept. 15 but did not release the winner's name or when the lucky ticket was purchased, only confirming the big payout is tied to the Southington retailer.
   

• Mierzejewski's three first-half touchdowns leads to No. 5 Southington's 42-26 win over Newtown (newbritainherald.com) — Southington football fans can celebrate another explosive performance, as the Blue Knights jumped out to a 42-14 halftime lead and held on for a 42-26 road win over Newtown. Wide receiver Walker Mierzejewski caught three long first-half touchdowns from quarterback Jacoby Roman, while coach Rob Levesque praised his playmakers but stressed the team must clean up second-half mistakes before facing Windsor Thursday.
