A popular grocery establishment in Southington was open for business on Friday, a year after a devastating fire.

SOUTHINGTON, CT — A popular grocery establishment in Southington was open for business on Friday, about a year after it was destroyed by fire.
Tops Marketplace is located at 887 Meriden-Waterbury Turnpike in Southington. Friday's re-opening came via "virtual hugs" amid social distancing, according to a social media post.
The market is also offering special hours for seniors and first-responders.

Tops' former building was destroyed in a fire in March of last year. Flames were visible through the roof and the fire "was active throughout the building" when firefighters arrived, officials said.
