Southington Police Arrest Allegedly Intoxicated Teacher

The incident happened in November.

Former Southington High School teacher John Hansen, 47, turned himself into Southington Police after he found out there was an active warrant for his arrest.

Students reported that Hansenwas acting very strangely on Nov. 6. An investigation was launched and he was removed from the classroom.

Hansen was charged with disorderly conduct. He was arrested Dec. 9, according to police.

Surveillance footage showed him bumping into lockers on his way into school and roughhousing with students during the pledge of allegiance. Someone reported the incident to the vice principal and he was removed from the classroom.

He was taken to a medical facility where he reportedly failed a breathalyzer test.

Hansen reportedly went to rehab and resigned from his position, according to the Record-Journal.
